A beautifully re-designed edition of a book published 10 years ago by Bhajju Shyam, a celebrated artist from the Gond tribe in central India who traveled to London. He spent two months in the city, and it was the first time he encountered a western metropolis. This chronicle of his journey is a fascinating, unique visual travelogue that features folkloric paintings representative of his culture. Although a picture book, this is not one likely to appeal to most children.

This is an indian version of the traditional Grimm tale "Four Animals". A great adaptation where a group of castaway animals band together as they try to find their place in the world. All were kicked out of their homes by their masters because they were to old and were of no use anymore. They work together as a team to scare away a group of thieves that have stolen gild and jewels from the village they lived in. After they scare the thieves away with their loud and scary singing the villagers come to see what the noise is all about. They find the gold and the animals and cheer for the animals that saved the village. The masters now want to bring them back home. But this group of 4 were to close of friends and stayed together. Now singing together each day and night deep in the forest.
This was a fun short tale about different animals building a friendship in hard times based on their common thread, castaways. I felt the illustrator did a great job on the drawings and use of color for the different animals.
