I wanted to read this about South Africa. It is a novel about Elias Mzimande who leaves hist family ( a traditional black tribe in the northern part of S.A.) to make a better life with the whites in Durbin. (A city we visited). Things weren't easy for Elias but he becomes friends with his white 'baas' and things become less difficult. But as the blacks begin the slow fight to end apartheid, life is a living hell. Elias looses a leg due to violence against his employer, by the resistance. Without a leg, he is unemployable and evicted from his home! His wife and child suffer with him.… (lisätietoja)
