Jeffrey Quilter is the William and Muriel Seabury Howells Director of the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at Harvard University, USA. He previously served as Director of the Pre-Columbian Studies Program and Curator of the Pre-Columbian Collection at Dumbarton Oaks, Washington DC and as näytä lisää a professor of Anthropology at Ripon College, Wisconsin. He has been involved in archaeological research particularly in Peru and Costa Rica. This book was surprisingly thorough, bringing forward information and theories that are current and fascinating. What impressed me most was how well the images were explained in the text, so that they didn't just serve as diversions or weak examples, but became an integral part of the story the book was telling. The book speculates, with strong evidence, about the interconnections of the many cultures, especially as they related to the different ecological and geological areas of South America. Like a beautiful tapestry, the books weaves interstitial connections between the plethora of different cultures that affected and were affected by the Inca Empire.… (lisätietoja)
