Piggy Toes Press

This has textured swatches of fabrics embedded in the pages, so kids can feel the textures. It has vinyl coated fabric for a rubber ball, cardboard for a bumpy texture, lace for a tutu, polyester fleece for cotton (next to a photo of cottonballs which I personally found offensive, because I would not wear polyester and they are not the same thing), a quilted page of leaves in red and orange fabrics for flower petals, and faux fur for a teddy bear.

This book holds up really well. Fabrics seem to have been chosen for stain resistance, and the cardboard is somehow sturdier and specifically made for a kids book. What eventually did this in is that one of my kids used her fingernails to scratch the vinyl coating off the ball page.

I think it's a good book. The texttures all feel different and kids like to touch them. They don't feel like what the book says they will feel like, and that seems to be because the fabrics were chosen for stain resistance and durability rather than tactile. Basically, half these are polyester and feel like polyester. My kids liked it, though, and it held up well.… (lisätietoja)
