Daniela Kaiser in eat.READ.sleep hat schon darauf hingewiesen, dass das Setting dieses Romans dem in Jurassic Park ähnelt: Ein Milliardär gibt viel Geld aus um einen Vergnügungspark zu schaffen, der beim Probelauf aus dem Ruder läuft. Hier ist es eine alte Burg im Ecscape-Room Stil. Das besondere ist, dass der Escape-Room KI-gestützt funktioniert und somit stets neu und aufregend verändert werden kann. Leider lässt sich der Escape-Room hier nicht beenden, nachdem das letzte Rätsel gelöst ist und die fünf eingeladenen Gäste plus dem reichen Gastgeber finden sich in einem Horror-Szenario wieder.
Darüber liegt natürlich die Frage, ist es die KI selbst, die hier so unmenschlich agiert oder hat sie jemand umprogrammiert? Leider ist diese Frage nur sehr unterschwellig, weil man kaum auf die Idee kommt, wie es zusammenhängen könnte. Dazu gibt es zu viele Ungereimtheiten und zu viele Einzelheiten um die Teilnehmer. Anfangs fand ich das Buch super, wie üblich bei Poznanski, mochte die Protagonisten, die dann Rätsel um Rätsel lösen. Ich fand den Professor irgendwie cool, mochte Petra und Yvonne. Dann verliert es sich sehr im Beschreibenden, so dass das Rätselraten für die Leserin (anders als für die Gefangenen in der Burg) nicht gut möglich ist. Die Personen werden zwar unvermittelt mit Geheimnissen konfrontiert, aber nicht wirklich aufgebaut. Ein paar mehr Wegweiser in die richtige Richtung und etwas mehr Klarheit in den Figuren hätten da nicht geschadet. Insgesamt habe ich dass Buch gern und schnell gelesen und fand es spannend. Aber da hätte tatsächlich ein besseres Lektorat und mehr Liebe zu den Figuren noch etwas Zug reinbringen können.
Die dahinterliegende Frage über die Kompetenzen von KI ist allerdings gut aufgemacht und darüber werde ich mit Sicherheit noch mit Expertinnen reden.… (lisätietoja)

I saw this book, and it reminded me of 1984 by George Orwell which I've read before. I'll definitely be reading this soon.

Update: 7.5/10, when I first saw this book a while back I wanted to read it and not long after I finally read it and this is nothing like what I expected, I was thinking of a terrifying dystopia but it wasn't that at all rather the concept revolves around a game which seems innocent at first but grows more sinister, where do I even begin. It starts off with the main character Nick and he lives his normal life and he got this new game called Erebos so he loads it up on his PC which takes a while by the way, maybe PCs in this book are slower than their real life counterparts or has this book aged like milk, I don't know. Probably the latter. Anyways Nick finally installs Erebos and apparently it's the most realistic game he ever saw and as I said it's like a world within the world and Nick enjoys it so much. However I think I've seen games with graphics like that and consoles like the PS5 and high end PCs can handle it now. He soon sees that other players are enjoying it as well however Nick soon discovers that there are a few special things about it, one if you die in the game you can't play the game anymore much like a hardcore mode and second the game manipulated Nick to do some wrong act and he accepted that at first until his character died and he couldn't play it. Not long after other characters discover the same thing and Nick finds out the backstory of this which segued to a big battle ending this on a quite a note there.… (lisätietoja)

Diesmal muss die Mordgruppe am Burgtheater ermitteln, wo während einer Vorstellung ein toter Mitarbeiter auf einem Thron drapiert wird. Es ereignen sich weitere Todesfälle. Da das Ensemble in der Folge ein Gastspiel auf den Salzburger Festspielen hat, gibt es für Fina und Oliver eine Dienstreise dorthin. Das dortige Treffen mit Bea und Florin ist natürlich für Poznanski-Fans ein besonderer Leckerbissen. Ich mochte das Buch und fand das Theater-Setting gut gewählt. Ob die Schauspieler in ihrem Mäandern zwischen Egozentrik und Exzentrtik noch zutreffend oder schon klischeehaft dargestellt waren, kann ich nicht beurteilen. Mir gefielen Fall und Lösung. Der "Kuckuck" schloss sich auch wieder an und legte Fina einen weiteren Mord in die Ermittlung. Mittlerweile habe ich diesbezüglich einen ziemlich deutlichen Verdacht und hoffe deshalb auf ein baldiges Erscheinen von Band 3.… (lisätietoja)

No sooner are the detectives at the scene of the crime than another murder is committed in the middle of the public. A man beats an innocent man to death.
What do these murders have in common? How can another murder be prevented? To make matters worse, both detectives fall into the trap themselves and allow themselves to be lulled into it.
