I never finished this book I stopped at page 160.

The Shadow of Tiamat is the first book of a series that sounded really exciting and full of something completely original and gripping.
I mean, I was expecting a war between dragons and vampires to be the main theme in this novel. How wrong I was.

This novel is written in the point of view of a woman named Meg, who at first I found quite an interesting character, then gradually rapidly I changed my mind. Her character is needy and annoying and to be honest she came across as a males fantasy woman than an actual being, a lot of what she says/thinks is not realistic at all.

Garrett I found quite boring to read also, the only thing that kinda had my attention was he was a dragon, not that he really done much as a dragon anyway.

Over all I would say this book was more of an erotic fantasy novel due to the fact Meg is contantly dripping wet and wanting nothing more than sex (and this is the main theme in the pages I read.) And definitely not a exciting dragon series. I also found the writing to be quite amateur in the way it was written, I couldn't decide if this book was published by a publisher or Sean Pointdexter himself, but if its was through a publisher then he needs to find a better editor. And if it is self published well done for trying.

Im sure many people will enjoy this book, however the genre isn't to my taste as i dont care for sexually desperate protagonists and would much rather read the news paper.

If I was to rate what I read I would give 2 stars.

*Book source ~ A review copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Social worker Megan Crunk is traveling back from a home check when she creams Garrett Terago on his motorcycle. But instead of being dead, he’s very much alive. A bit tattered, but Megan is hurt worse and she had a car and airbags protecting her. Garrett is a mystery to her that only deepens when she starts digging into the community where she did the home check. Are there such things as vampires? Surely not. But Megan is about to find out the world is not what she thought it to be and her association with Garrett combined with her curiosity has landed her in the middle of a supernatural war.

The beginning of this story is a little confusing as it jumps in time, but once it settles down it gallops off at a steady pace. The characters are well-developed and while the storyline falters a bit in places, it nonetheless held my interest hostage. I had to keep reading to see what would happen next. The heat between Megan and Garrett is off the charts, but I’m so afraid Megan is going to screw it up because Garrett is unable to express himself fully. He lacks creativity and it seems this lack bothers Megan. A lot. If she fucks things up because of that I will have to bitchslap her from one side of the country to the other. Seriously. Also, she says “’Kay” way too much. Stop it. Garrett is adorable. And hot. *drools a bit* Anyway, the author’s take on this world and the supernatural beings in it is a little different than I’ve read before and it’s quite interesting and refreshing. However, the ending is a bit of a cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers. As cliffhangers go though, this isn’t horrible. I’m dancing around, wanting the next book really bad. Like, right this instant. Because I’m dying (not literally) to know what’s up with Megan and why Garrett is so important in the Big Bad’s scheme. Bring on Book 2!

Reviewed on THE NIGHTLIFE blog: http://thenightlifeseries.blogspot.com/2014/08/moth-by-sean-poindexter-dark-wick...

Max, CPS investigator, is on the trail of several mysterious child disappearances. Max digs through trailer trash hovels, neo-nazi meth dealers, and every form of Deliverance-backwater scum you can find rotting in a 1970's singlewide. The search for these phantom missing children seems to dead end every which way ... the parents can't remember they ever had children.

Its the memory blackout that proves who's behind these heinous crimes. Damn vampires are at it again, erasing minds, stealing children and selling them off to vampire truckers and pedophiles.

This is every CPS worker's nightmare case, and no one in the department can handle it, except Max. He's immune to vampire glamour, sees right through their bullshit. Forced into a deadly alliance with rival vampires, Max plays supernatural politics to his advantage and brings down the hammer of retribution.

I'll never be able to look at a trailer park the same way again.

Moth delves into the darkest depths of child exploitation in America, while seamlessly blending in a hidden underworld of supernatural nasties. An intense genre-bender of urban fantasy, horror, thriller, mystery-suspense, with a splatter of steamy, erotica.

Definitely my kind of novel, a SOLID FIVE STAR READ ★★★★★

My review of this novel is slightly mixed. Lots of graphic violence and lots of explicit sex in this one so definitely not one for the kiddies.

On the one hand you have a lovely CPS worker who is dating a sexy good-guy dragon, dragon bad-guys who want to annihilate the human race, and a couple of bad vampires thrown into the mix with lots of action, intrigue and romance. What's not to like? And I really did like this book overall and am left really wanting to know more about what Meg is. I would love to read the sequel.

But here's what I didn't like. Near the beginning where Megan and Garrett have their first sexual weekend together, I got the feeling that the author couldn't decide if he was writing a fantasy novel or a FANTASY novel - if you get my drift. For a while it was reading like some hard-core porn. I'm not a prude and don't mind some good sex scenes in a novel, but this seemed pretty extreme to me.

If you can get past that sexually explicit bit and get into the meat of the story though, I think you'll really enjoy this book like I did. And if you like your books graphic when it comes to sex - well that's even more to love.
