Anthology of Poetry

This is a thin volume of poetry by children in elementary school. Some of the poems, despite being by younger children, tackle quite advanced topics. One of the poems that most impressed me was called "Shattered Dreams" and was about an abusive household. I am a little biased because I do have a poem in this book. (It's called "Books" and is about the fun of reading that I wrote when I was in fourth grade haha) But every once in awhile I pull this out to read the poetry, and am still struck by the talent of the girl who wrote "Shattered Dreams." As demonstrated by my poem about reading, not all of the poems are about the troubles of life. There are cute little poems about pets or friends, or simply about the joy of playing baseball. I'd definitely recommend this for readers of all ages, and it should serve as a reminder that there is a poet deep down inside all of us!… (lisätietoja)
