Nathan Pennington

When Kelly Brandt is found dead in a motel room, it is assumed to be suicide. Ray Crusafi is hired by Kelly's daughter Macy because she doesn't believe her mom would kill herself.
Ray speaks with many shady people during his investigation. He feels that everyone could be suspect in Kelly's death.
During the story, we find out that Ray has a secret past. He is not who he pretends to be.

Was it suicide or murder? If murder, who did it? If suicide, why? And just who is Ray Crustafi?

A Good story, it held my interest. And has me wanting to read to next story, just to find out Ray's secrets.… (lisätietoja)

I was looking forward to the second Ray Crusafi mystery after reading the first and reviewing it. I was not disappointed and look forward to the further adventures of this off-beat private detective.

Ray is on the way to pick up his wife after the first story of the series and falls into a new case where it looks like he will be able to pick up some easy money and be able to spend some time with his wife as he admits to her some of his past that he has kept secret. But the case gets in the way and it gets crazy. The reader will be guessing right along with Ray as to what is going and who is pulling the strings.

An excellent and fun read. Hopefully Mr. Pennington will continue the series as Ray is a fun detective and the writing is excellent.… (lisätietoja)

What a depressing story. While it works for an apocalyptic novel there were some over the top elements. The "hero" got a little too good at surviving some extreme odds and it left the story to be less than believable. Normally I don't refer to believable for an end of world story but this one had some nice basis in fact and probability that I felt it was a little ruined by the more outlandish parts. The ending was bittersweet. I like it but yet I didn't like the analogy made.

Not a bad read but be forewarned- its not going to cheer anyone up.… (lisätietoja)
