Através deste trabalho, pretende-se apresentar uma metodologia adequada para a intervenção de centros históricos de pequenos e médios aglomerados. Partiu-se da análise de dois aglomerados, Mértola e Guimarães, para exemplificar duas orientações distintas, com base em normativas nacionais e internacionais, enquadrando essa análise naquilo que foi a prática portuguesa ao longo do século XX, com ênfase no período posterior a 1974 e até 2001. O estudo revela que o património das zonas históricas é uma tarefa cada vez mais abrangente e diversificada, mas que ao mesmo tempo exige um grande rigor metodológico, em prol da salvaguarda e valorização do património e também da otimização das condições de vida dos indivíduos que nelas vivem.

Through this work, the author intends to present a suitable methodology for intervention in historic centres of small to medium settlements. The starting point was the analysis of two settlements, Mértola and Guimarães, in order to exemplify two different orientations, based in national and international regulations, and setting the analysis in the context of the Portuguese practices over the 20th century, underlining the period from 1974 to 2001. The study reveals that heritage in historic areas entails an increasingly broad and diverse practice, requiring at the same time a great rigor in methodology towards the preservation and enrichment of heritage, and also for the improvement of living conditions in these areas.… (lisätietoja)
