Our pasts weigh us down and cause us to stumble. God wants us to live an abundant life in His presence. This book outlines how to get to that place. Each daily devotional contains a passage of Scripture, comments relating to the verse, and additional thoughts. I love the length of these devotionals. They contain enough information to stand on their own, or you could use them to dive into a deeper study. Covering topics such as “When Life Shatters”, “Resting in the Shadows”, “Carrying Others’ Burdens Well” and more, i thoroughly appreciated this devotional.

This book touched my soul and made me want to spend time with God. The style of writing pulled me in as did the title for I want to be truly known by God. I picture myself revisiting this devotional since it contains such a meaningful and necessary message. So check it out for yourself.

This is a nice collection of inspiring devotions that are encouraging and filled with God’s Word. It is a short book but I would recommend taking your time as you go through it. I pulled out my journal to take notes so I could remember things that spoke to me. There are several chapters that really stood out to me.

I liked the chapter “When Jesus Qualifies You“ because God has prepared you for what He is called you for specifically. I don’t know how many times I have thought I could never teach Sunday school, yet God appointed me Children’s Pastor over a large church. He equipped me to minister and I knew I was in the right place. It was a blessing to be around the children and watch their faith grow.

“Steadfast Love” was another chapter I really liked. I grew up in a home where I experienced violence and abuse daily. The words “I love you,” was never said by my parents. How could I believe that God loves me? I’m not anyone important, in fact I felt unloveable . I really like how the chapter talks about God “always looks upon us through the eyes of love.” How comforting that is for me to know. He is the one constant in our lives. I have come to accept that God loves me unconditionally and has always been there watching over me.

The book has many subjects that I enjoyed reading. I do wish the chapters were a bit longer and more in-depth though. It would make a nice gift for someone who needs encouraging or just to give to someone to add to their daily Bible study.
