I won my copy of this book free through a Goodreads giveaway.
I remain a skeptic, I guess. This book is readable, and offers a decent introduction to meditation, with a meditation routine almost identical to what we were taught in my middle-school PE classes, but with a bit of mumbo-jumbo tacked on to make it fit the aesthetics of this brand of modern yoga. The author also tried to divorce his teachings from the vocabulary of established religions, which I appreciated, but the result was still hampered by too much Christian-style religion, just styled differently. Still, for readers coming from a Christian background this might not be so bad. Over all, I liked this book well enough, but not enough to let my mom read it.… (lisätietoja)

Design is what we create. Destiny is that which is considered predetermined. Is it not paradoxical to put the two words together?

Author, Kamlesh D Patel, starts with a question to the reader: 'How much of our destiny is fixed, and how much can be changed?'

Rest of the book answers the question in a structured way.

There are three parts of the book.

In part 1, we learn practical and straightforward techniques offered by Heartfulness practice. It is not very uncommon to see some of us fail despite our best efforts. These techniques come in handy to understand how to align our efforts best. A dedicated chapter on attitude discusses common pitfalls and how to avoid them.

Part 2 discusses the lifestyle changes that any sincere individual would aspire. Every line, every paragraph, every page has something new to offer. Author inspires, motivates, clarifies, and at the end, reminds us that nobody can be changed unwillingly.

Part 3 is a deep dive into destiny, free will, and freedom of choice. Many concepts that can be overwhelming to a newbie are explained in an easy to understand language.

Author, Kamlesh D Patel, has designed his destiny in his own right. He is here to help you in creating yours.

Must read!

What I loved about this book is that it gave me some things I may use for the rest of my life. So that definitely makes it a five star book for me. One is meditation focusing on the divine light in your heart rather than just the breath. Relaxing into that and realizing that the thoughts come around are really just wallpaper in the room. My focus can be on the divine light, other thoughts can be around but the don’t have to intrude or be fought off. The cleaning thing is interesting and I’m trying it. Other ideas about points a,b and c and that particular prayer don’t resonate with me. But wow. Walking away from a book with something I think I’ll use forever is a lot. So five stars.… (lisätietoja)
