Min Paek

This book is multicultural about a young Korean girl named Aekyung. New to the country, she was teased at school for being different. She had a dream about an ancient Korean king who told her to be strong. Eventually she was able to learn English, speak to her classmates about her culture and be accepted by them.

I thought this was a very good book. As I read it aloud to my day care class, they really enjoyed seeing the story written in Korean. They liked the oriental paintings, too.

As an extension, I would invite a Korean or Asian individual to come and speak about their culture. Then, the children could try drawing an oriental picture. Also, it would be fun to learn a few simple words to write and say.… (lisätietoja)
