Eric Newton (1) (1893–1965)

I've re-discovered this series, previously purchased in my teenage years -as income at that time permitted, and now some seventy years later I realise that the books were one of the corner stones on which my love of painting was based.
I probably still have my original copies somewhere, but to find them for sale at Amazon, each at a very reasonable price, has started me off again collecting them.
All of these years later, they show their age, not just in their slightly delicate condition, but in the completely different style of book than if they were published today. Nevertheless, and despite the fact that half of the pictures are in black and white - they provide a very good basic cross-section of each artist's work.
