The conflict was pretty interesting, uncanny alliances were made, loyalties got tested and questioned and a battle of wills ensued between the characters. The resolution part was the cliff hanger, it's one of those what-in-the-world book endings that will make you cry in despair or will totally love the torture if you're like me. Tee-hee-hee-hee!

Meet Alannah, an entrepreneurial young ghost hunter, who has just gotten involved in a case that will challenge all of her skills.

Along with her sometimes inept and often cowardly partner, Wortley Flint, Alannah has been banishing ghosts and collecting their treasures for years. A new mission at Pittingham Manor promises to add to her growing coffers - until she realizes that something is wrong with this case.

One of the major problems for Alannah is Officer Fhli, a heavenly inspector who has been sent to check out the Door of Souls, a portal between dimensions that just happens to be located at Pittingham Manor. One of Officer Fhli's major problems is Alannah, who shouldn't be able to see her but can. Fhli is eager for advancement, but her team consists of troopers named Yell and Gloom, for obvious reasons.

Add Alannah to the mix, and Fhli's chances for upward movement in A.N.G.E.L. is questionable at best.

Fans of ARTEMIS FOWL will enjoy this new romp that combines ghouls, ghosts, gargoyles, and other evil creatures in an ambitious quest through three dimensions, where even the expected is unexpected.

Alannah Malarra and her reluctant sidekick burgular Wortley Flint are onto a good thing. Alannah uses her psychic ability to see ghosts and with Wortley's help, they rid people of their unwanted ghosts and claim the treasure that the ghosts are protecting. This is until they go to Pittingham Manor where they discover that demons and gargoyles are entering earth from a dark dimension. They come across the A.N.G.E.L. patrol made up of Evanescents including the cheeky Flhi Swift who likes to do things not necessarily the way that her superiors want her to, and her 2 patrolmen Yell (who is really loud) and Gloom ( who is always negative.) To them, Alannah is a Fleshie ( a substantial being) who normally cannot see Evanescents so they get the shock of their luminescent lives when A confronts them and asks where the treasure is. This leads to a series of confrontations where the two teams must work together to try and stop both the Evanescent world and Earth falling under the power of the Dark Dimension. There is great banter between the two female leads, lots of supernatural fire power, humour and logical supernatural events that are remimiscent of Artemis Fowl books and Herbie Brennan's Fairee Wars books. First book in a series, I believe.… (lisätietoja)
