I didn't really like this book. It has all the crucial info you need, but I was put off the "attachment parenting" bent. She wants you to carry the child with you everywhere in a sling, sleep with the child, and breastfeed on demand as long as the child wants you to -- and goes on about how in many cultures the child feeds until he or she is five years old. She also says if the baby tries to wean, you should do everything you can to discourage it.

I don't agree. The moms I know who do that are all exhausted, plus most women work and don't have the option. I'm a big advocate of breastfeeding, but I don't think it's bad if you don't do it, nor is it necessary to kill yourself in the process. My mom says I weaned myself after I don't know six or nine months or so. My boyfriend's mom says he weaned himself after about a month. We're both healthy and fine.… (lisätietoja)
