Although I have not yet finished this book, it has incredible teaching on numerous valuable areas of thought. Murray has so many deep insights that I feel this book is a must read. More to come....(more...with still more coming...) Critical information, teaching, clarification about the culture and worldview we are currently facing in the 2020's. I cannot give this book a high enough rating to truly indicate its value. It is not an easy read though it is well written. The concepts and issues it tackles are incredibly thorny and sensitive and the solution Murray offers is controversial among many individuals and groups. A proper comment would deal with the subject matter. A masterpiece. A longer more thorough review will take much more time than I can give now. To be continued...and read and reread until truly digested.… (lisätietoja)

Very relevant to these times. My favorite quote from the book is this one: "We confuse disagreeing with someone's beliefs with disrespecting the person. In fact, we've confused the difference between people and ideas altogether. Where we once used to be able to challenge a person's beliefs without necessarily denigrating that person, we now think that challenging certain beliefs is the same thing as denigrating the person who holds them." I see this on a pretty much daily basis. People don't seem to be able to handle disagreements like they used to.

I also liked that the author (a former Muslim who is now a Christian) pointed out that often these days people who criticize Islam are called 'racist'. He pointed how ridiculous this is since Islam is a religion, not a race. That's one thing many people these days don't seem to understand. I hear it all the time and have often thought about that very point. Overall this book is a pretty good summary of today's times.

The subtitle suggests a book about the Middle East conflict and the ends of the age, but it is really about salvation. The author's Muslim background gives him an opening and closing, but the main content of the book is typical evangelical soteriology with an evidential apologetic.
