I couldn't get in to it. I'm not a short story fan

Take me out to a ballgame and I don’t care if I never get back.

This book is the author’s, R, Scott Murphy’s reminiscence into America’s pastime we fondly know as baseball.

I found Mr. Murphy’s writing through his prose and poetry to be quite allegorical as it calls its readers to reflect on their younger days, and the wonderment of those times when life itself had been quite unpretentious. And all we can do these days is to simply remind ourselves of the sentimental times we’ve had enjoyed.

If you’re a child of the 1950’s like me, you’ve enjoyed drinking those 5 cent packages of Kool-Aid powder while listening the music Casey Kasen played each week on his “American Top 40.”

I loved his descriptive poetic guided tour of all of the Major League Baseball Stadiums, along with his Japanese 3 lines of Haiku themed poetry [5-7-5 syllables] about each of the World Series Games from 1965-2010 and let’ us not forget some of the players themselves got treated with the same type of poetry.

For having given all lovers of this great American pastime, something with which they can relive the fond memories of their youth, I’m giving Mr. Murphy 5 STARS.

I won a KINDLE copy of this book through a giveaway the author had on Amazon.com and the following is my honest opinion.

During my working days I drove over 40 miles each day, picking up my dear OH on the return trip; and during these drive times I had to listen to the radio playing easy-listening type of music. Anything else would have created to much of a distraction from my driving.

While the book’s title is, Fun Stories for Your Drive Home, reading it, is something which would definitely considered to be a dangerous distraction, not only because of the stories themselves but also because of the jocularity they contain which is sure to make one laugh. So, you must be in the passenger seat when reading it.

Reading this KINDLE book, in my comfortable chair at my computer, I came to realize that the only way for anyone to actually enjoy this book on their DRIVE HOME, is for them to get the AUDIOBOOK version of it [the audio sample of the book which is available on Amazon is quite good].

This is the type of book, with its collection of 14 delightfully humorous vignettes, doesn’t have to be in a single sitting as I did to review it, it can easily be in a doctor’s office where patients can read an entire story as they wait to be called in, or read in drips and drabs at one’s leisure; which is why I’ve chosen to give the book and its author, R. Scott Murphy, 5 STARS.

This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways.
A delightful read for any fan of baseball or poetry! This book breathes new life and love into the sport of baseball. It brings you back to your childhood, full of late night baseball games. It speaks to the cheering fan, the childhood love, and the adult adulation of the game.

The only issue I had with the book was the "Home Run Alphabet". After reading through the first page, I skipped the rest.
