Montanism's problematic ecclesiology, "super-spiritual" judgmentalism, and separatist tendencies are features it shares with the later Donatist movement which rose in the fourth century. This thesis, as a more favorable assessment of Montanism, seems to downplay just how severely disruptive these features would have been to the unity of the Church. Nevertheless, it is good to re-assess possible consequences of any over-reaction on the part of the Orthodox clergy which may have occurred in response to this troubling movement.… (lisätietoja)
