Donald W. Munns (1930–1945)

Donald W. Munns was an Esperantist and an enthusiastic woodsman. He contributed lists of scouting and woodcraft terms in Esperanto to a woodcraft publication The Torch and these were published during in 1943 and 1944. Munns was evacuated from London with many other children during the Second World War.  He studied Esperanto and in that language wrote a novel about the experience of the children relocated from the capital to the countryside; Londonanidoj, was published by the Esperanto Publishing Company in 1945. Munns died in that year, at the age of fifteen. His death is noted (without mention of his novel or his age at the time of his death) in the July/August 1945 issue of The British Esperantist. The notice was accompanied by a list of scouting and woodcraft terms in Esperanto coined by Munns.
