I started off absolutely despising Helen and feeling bad for Ellie, but by halfway through I found my opinions had swapped. Helen may have been a troubled child, but she was still just a little girl. I didn't find myself sad when Ellie died, though I realize she was just as troubled as Helen was.
When the mother reveals that she knew all along that the swap had happened, it was a little shocking but more so for the fact that she didn't realize how big of an impact it could be on her daughters. There was a lot of depth for every character. I also love a book that doesn't give happy clean endings, because Helen is going to be troubled for the rest of her life and that's just realistic.
I'm not sure if I just skipped over it, and someone who reads this review might be able to help me (I've already donated the book), what happened to Helen's baby? The one she was pregnant with when they were in Amsterdam. I can't remember anything happening with that.… (lisätietoja)
