I enjoyed the stories in this book, which are meant to get across points and lessons. For someone who enjoys stories and learns better that way, I think this is a great format. Personally, It is easier for me to learn in a more textbook style of learning. Give me the information that is needed and explain how to apply that knowledge. Although there is valuable information contained in this book, it seems more of a "reading for entertainment" type book than it does a "self help" book. Even so, I would recommend this book and do think it was well written!… (lisätietoja)

I liked the personal stories in this book, as they help illustrate each concept. I'm one of those people who understand concepts best when an example is provided. I also liked the "Gentle Knock" exercises, which prompted me to think through the various concepts and see how they apply to MY life. Anything that encourages me to examine my unexamined assumptions is a good thing.

Each one is to illustrate a point and then there are questions for personal reflection to help the reader gain some insight. It's style felt very blog post like, with short chapters full of the author's experiences. I tend to like things that are a little more step by step, with suggestions or ideas to help you move along and not so many personal stories. If the stories were removed there would not be all that much material to read over. The questions are useful if approached from a journaling or workbook style perspective, but it was not really what I was expecting.… (lisätietoja)

I received this book as a LT early reviewer and wanted to like it very much. I was hoping for an insightful book on why we wait for things to happen in our lives and how to take charge. Instead, I found myself repeatedly trying to get into the book. It's clearly well-written. The author has a good turn of phrase and an honest, open style. But for some reason I just couldn't get through it. I may try again at some point, when perhaps the subject matter doesn't push my buttons, but for now, I think I'll wait.… (lisätietoja)
