I really enjoyed this book which features a side to the war and ordinary people coping as best they can.

To the outsider life continues as before. Behind the scenes everyone seems to have some secret to hide which could put themselves and others in great danger.

The characters really come to life in the book. In particular I like the gregarious big-hearted man who always manages to get supplies especially of desperately needed food.

At times the reader feels that they are there in the audience enjoying the amazing dancing. What a spectacular sight it would be
