Though one ometimes loses one's way in the welter of unit numbers, this is a readable account of the imortant battle. This effort has a lot to offer the reader who is pursuing the mindset of the soldiers who were educated during WWI and the period following. It began as a well conducted battle involving all four elements of WWI forces, infantry, artillery, air support, and even tanks, but it eventually dwindled down into a very close struggle for strongpoints, albeit much further into enemy territory than the Germans wished. The maps are a good Osprey level effort and do help explain the text, which is lacking in clarirty on some points.½
