This series just continues to baffle me......its a great storyline, its well paced, and even manages to keep me interested despite the negatives.....but, there are just too many negatives.

The 3rd installment was once again riddled with inconsistencies...ie, it is stated that four ppl were murdered in the last two killing sprees....its actually six....five at the Scarry Inn itself.

The first book takes place on Christmas eve and Christmas morning......the second book states its six months later, so June....this book says its been three months, so should be Sept....but then mentions its March??!

In one chapter Sonia mentions the spirits may try to speak through her, as they've done before......only later to state that spirits have never tried to speak through her.

I just can't understand how a writer doesn't remember the details of her own story. Who edits these books?....wouldn't they catch the repeated mistakes??

Further issues continue as well.....more recycled dialog and repeated actions by the characters......EVERYONE has the same opinions about the existence of spirits and use the same dialog to explain said views, repeatedly. EVERYONE cries over EVERYTHING. EVERYONE slaps the table when making points.

I probably won't be finishing this series......there are just too many issues.....I find myself aggravated too often to truly enjoy the reading experience.… (lisätietoja)

I love the concept behind this series, but I wasn't overly impressed with the first book. I was hoping this would be better....but, sadly no.

My issues in the first book lied with the characters.....and yet again..everyone cries over EVERYTHING.

Unfortunately, this second addition was plagued by even more problems:

Poor writing and inconsistencies....ie, in one chapter Madge Scarry states shes always loved a good thunderstorm...the following chapter she states she's never liked storms. The first book clearly states that Clyde Scarry comes up with the ideas for naming the rooms and using the creepy hotel angle.....this book tells you Thelma Scarry came up with the whole idea.

Recycled dialog .... the Scarry family literally talks about the same things everytime they conversate.....there are pages filled with this repeated dialog.

Unrealistic character actions and scenarios abound here.

Ironically....this killer claims 3 victims again.....and once again a teenage guest.....the friend of the main protagonist.

It just feels very little effort was involved in this second installment.

I will read the next book, as I already have it....but, I'm not sure if I'll continue the series.… (lisätietoja)

Hmm....I'm struggling with how to rate this one. It very much reads like the YA read it is....which is totally fine.

The plot was creepy....and cute.....Thelma and Dick Scarry open a hotel on their property....The SCARRY INN, in FRIGHTON Az....its adorably spooky!

The plot was interesting...and although a bit laggy....I didn't mind the slow build.

My issues were with the characters....very one dimensional and flat, with unrealistic dialog and actions.EVERYONE in this book cries over EVERYTHING.... on almost every page someone either has "tears in their eyes", " tears streaming down their face" or is " fighting tears".....this is before any of the horror starts.The main female protagonist...Heidi.....is self centered, entitled and whiney.

Overall, I did enjoy it enough to finish it, and will read the next 2 in the series, as I have those. Hopefully I will like those better since my issues were character related, and I believe there will be a new cast of characters in the next book.… (lisätietoja)
