I found Wrong Place Wrong Time to be an addictive and clever thriller centered around a fascinating time travel premise. The story opens with Jen witnessing her teenage son Todd commit a horrific act of violence, stabbing a stranger outside their home. She goes to sleep distraught, only to wake up the previous day before the murder takes place.

As Jen keeps travelling further back in time, she desperately tries to uncover clues to understand what led to Todd's inexplicable actions. I was completely invested in watching the mystery unravel through Jen piecing together events from the past. The reverse chronology format was a unique and suspenseful way to reveal critical details.

McAllister did an excellent job of spinning an unpredictable, multi-layered plot. I was impressed by how seamlessly she wove together the dual timelines. The twists kept me guessing throughout. I grew attached to Jen, Todd and the other characters. The themes of motherhood, marriage, and the lengths one would go to protect their child really resonated.

While I found the novel compelling and thought-provoking overall, I can't say the ending fully satisfied me. The final reveal and climax felt a bit rushed compared to the well-paced build up. I was left wanting more closure about certain relationships and consequences. But the reading journey up until the finale was highly enjoyable and original. I'd recommend this book if you like thrillers with a twist!

I am a sucker for a good Groundhogs Day book…

I am not going to write anything about this book.

You should know nothing.

I wish I hadn't bothered with this book. The premise sounded intriguing – a time loop, a mother trying to save her son from a terrible crime – but the execution was just plain boring.

First of all, I had trouble caring about any of the main characters. The author clearly intended for us to get caught up in their story, yet her characterization left me wanting. I just didn't feel a connection to any of them. They lacked depth, which made it really hard for me to care about what happened.

The story had potential to be a gripping thriller, but it never really took off. I couldn't help but feel that with better pacing and more in-depth character development, it could have been a much more enjoyable read.

The plot moved at a glacial pace. This wasn't a book that had me turning the pages, and it was a struggle to get through it. Several times I was on the verge of quitting, but each time I persisted in the vain hope that things would improve. Spoiler alert: they didn't.

The story's overall premise was unconvincing, and I had a hard time buying into it while it unfolded. The plot was so outrageously convoluted and unbelievable that I felt like the time I spent reading was wasted.

In the end, I did not enjoy reading this book. The premise had promise, but the execution fell flat for me. Look elsewhere if you want to read something that will keep you turning the pages until the very end.

The queen of the plot twist is back and has done it again, but this time the plot twist is a real jaw dropper!

It’s hard to review this book without giving anything away. The book blurb has said said as much as it can really with no spoilers.

What I can say though is how clever and great the entire book honestly is.
Don’t let the title mislead you, yes it is about a missing young woman who suddenly disappears, but it is also so much more than that!

I loved the characters and how they are all so well fleshed out and have their own stories. The lead protagonist, DCI Julia Day, is someone you can’t help but feel fully invested in her story, but for me, my favourite character was Julia’s daughter, Genevieve.
She stole the limelight every time she pops up in the story. Maybe because she reminds me quite a lot of how my daughter was at that age, sharp as a whip at times!

The search for the missing person, Olivia, ramps up the tension as Julia and her favourite detective, Jonathan, head up the case in the Major Crimes Unit. Working around the clock to find her and work out how she just vanished from a dead end alleyway.

Things just keep getting worse for Julia as she gets blackmailed by a stranger, to either plant damming evidence into Olivia’s room or he will go to the police himself and tell everyone the dark secret Julia has been hiding to protect Genevieve, placing her in a moral dilemma. Protect her daughter or becomes something she despises, a corrupt police officer and frame a potentially innocent person.

Brimming with tension, secrets, lies and plot twists this is pretty much going to be a huge bestseller!
