Kind of a limp finish to a good series. But, at last, MacArthur is bounced by HST, good riddance. History for him is many more warts than freckles.

Koreas Surprises, the subtitle is also a good brief review of this reprise of an old destroyer and series. Not much good happened to our military between and during our Korean experience. MacArthur does it again would have worked as a title as well. All of this angst is captured as the ship and some of its crew members return to their original level of effectiveness.

Lucky and his new wife's story continues. She joins his family in America and he readies a squadron for long-range escort duty over Japan. The latter has not received much print . The long distances over water, the very difficult weather, and the ugly life on Iwo Jima make this assignment dangerous and not very pleasant. Using B 29s as navigational aids with navy submarines and destroyers as fallen pilot retrievers created a safety net that saved many lives.

Good quick P 51 Mustang Squadron WW2 Europe story. Some good insights into British civilian problems and attitudes during these very difficult times.
