This classic account of the writer's visit to Borneo just around the time of independence includes history, ethnography and anecdote all written in an entertaining style. The book includes 44 black and white illustrations of the country and the people whom the author met. The 424 pages are divided into six parts, i.e.

2 - The Land Dayaks,
3 - The Ibans,
4 - The Kayans and Kenyahs,
5 - The Melanaus, Malays and Chinese and
6 - Envoi.
