When I chose to read this book I wasn't aware that it targets single women who long to have their own family but often find themselves unable to find the perfect mate. Author Lauren Lianne has been one of those young women and she bares her soul as she shares her own years of searching and waiting: the disappointments, her failed efforts to find the right person, and all of the times when she chose to act instead of wait. Now, after learning to be patient, she feels that her relationship with God is the most important one and and she hopes that others will discover that also.

It has been a very long time since I was young and single but I received a lot of encouragement and inspiration from reading The Wait Will Not Be Wasted. I certainly recommend it to young women who find themselves searching for a lasting relationship but it is also useful for anyone who finds themselves in a season of wanting and waiting.

The God who created the universe and yet still knows the hair on your head can handle every one of your dreams and desires. (p. 75)

Sometimes we miss God's speaking to us, because we aren't still enough to hear Him over all of the noise in our lives. (p. 118)

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

While I was growing up, I had dreams of what I wanted my life to look like. Initially, I wanted to be a nurse but I can not handle the sight of needles or blood so that idea went away. Then I had dreams of being a teacher and traveling around the country in a motorhome with a little convertible hooked behind. At that point, marriage was not on my mind. Yet, God brought my husband and me together in His time without either of us looking.

Now as the mother of four: three sons who are about to turn 24, 21, and 19 plus a daughter who is 17, the message of this book resonates with me for them. I firmly believe that God has created the perfect soulmate for each of us, and the message of this book is one that needs to be shared. I love how Lauren Walton presents her ideas in this book. We. have done nothing on our own to deserve God’s blessings, but He freely gives them to those who love and trust Him.

We are told patience is a virtue and more, but when you only want to have someone to share your life with waiting can be painful. I love the vulnerability Lauren Walton shares in the pages of this book.

So whether you are single yourself or have someone in your life who is, check out this book for yourself.

I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.

Patience is something I work on everyday. I don’t like to have to wait on things. I’ve learned that my timing is not God’s timing. It is easy to relate to this book because I wanted the perfect life with the picket fence, perfect husband and perfect children. I rushed into relationships trying to find “the one” only to get my heart broken many times.
The book is definitely one I would recommend to everyone who is waiting for that certain someone or waiting for something you feel may never come. We have disappointments in our life and it’s up to us to choose to grow from them or allow ourselves to become bitter.
There were times I’m my life I wanted to give up and became this angry person. Nothing seemed to go my way and I felt like I was spinning around in circles. In my pity party I wanted someone to love me. Guess what I found out? I was loved but would not invite Him in. Over the years I have journaled my thoughts and found it to be healing. I write to God and let Him into my thoughts with open arms.
We need to grasp the idea that God knows our dreams. He knows how we struggle in areas and He wants to reassure you that He has a plan for you. The book is very encouraging and is one that I will read each time I need to be reminded that “ You can trust that even in the wait, God has a plan.”

Like Lauren Lianne, I am single. I am also ten (plus) years further into my journey than the author, and while marriage and family aren’t the deepest desires of my heart, I could relate to so much of this book because I’ve experienced long seasons of waiting. And I know I will be in them again.

With vulnerability and transparency, Lianne shares her journey of waiting—the good, the bad, and the ugly—to receive her heart’s desire of a Godly husband. But The Wait Will Not Be Wasted goes much deeper than Lianne’s journey. It’s about placing those desires in the hands of the One who understands our longings, the One who knows the full picture, and the One who loves us unconditionally.

The fact that the author is still in the middle of her wait makes it easy for the reader to relate to her as she shares her story. I highlighted so much of this book, including the practical things we can do that Lianne suggests near the end of the book.

Bottom line, in life, everyone will experience a season of waiting. Whether it be for a husband, a child, a home, or a job, there will be times of doubt. There will be times of questioning, arguing, and perhaps even separation from God. But, as we are reminded in The Wait Will Not Be Wasted, God is always there.
