This is a college romance with all the self-involved, insensitive, don't give a crap attitude of young adults. The characters are judgy and biased as most kids are at this age. They follow trends and opinions prevalent amongst their peers and think that is the be all and end all of their college centered universes. So you can understand the psychology behind Jack and Claire's behaviors as well as those around them.

Jack behaves a bit like a douche until he realizes there is a lot more to Claire and the same goes for Claire when she realizes that there is a nice guy buried under all that swagger. Alas, peer pressure being the b*tch that she is, gets in the way, upsetting that balance that they find. But we all want HEAs and thank God for them because I think I'd be really depressed if I had to read book after book like this and not have people rise above and do the right thing.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for voluntary review consideration.

I was really excited when I saw this as a freebie on Amazon: I'm a sucker for the "in love with the tutor" trope. Add to that, I was looking for a story where a "popular" guy goes for the "nerdy" girl.

This one was cute for sure, but not as addicting as I had hoped.

Claire was a little over-dramatic and I hate to say that because she does have a sad past that does warrant her reactions. There was a lot of potential there but it kind-of fell flat by her irrational actions. I just didn't warm up to her as much as I had hoped.

I thought Jake had the best character growth. A lot of that is thanks to Claire and her ability to see him as a person and not a commodity. And in turn, he helps her with her self-confidence. I really enjoyed that aspect of their relationship. I like when romances aid in personal character growth.

This was more of a slow burn romance than I anticipated. And for the longest time, I didn't see how these two would ever fall for each other. They were constantly at each other's throats. It takes them a while to reach the point that is described in the synopsis.

Overall: it's cute and it was enjoyable but nothing new to me.
