Ethan has been forced to face up to his responsibilities as Earl of Longhurst and he's somewhat resenting being taken away from his career as a soldier in the Army, after all there's a war going on with Napoleon... the first time he meets Lady Petra he mistakes her for a local wench but he discovers that she's starting to mean something to him. If only she was wealthy, his home needs some wealth to survive but he keeps being drawn to her and the feelings are mutual, if only she could trust an army man.

Lady Margueriet Saxby is being blackmailed. In need of money she accepts a job from Jack Vincent, Lord Compton to be temporary governess to his three daughters. He has a lot of rules and expects everyone to live with them but she finds them too restrictive and is pretty certain that her young charges are not happy with them either. Jack lost his wife to murder and he's desperate to ensure that no-one else dies tragically on his watch.
I'm actually reading book 3 in this series at the moment and would read more by this author, while the characters are fun to spend some time with. Lady Marguerite Saxby fills that space of a widow who doesn't miss her husband really, whose first marriage was full of abuse is going to take a while to trust anyone and it looks for a while that Jack would try to control her but thankfully this isn't what happens. It's a fun read with good characters whose second chance was well done.… (lisätietoja)

Frederica Bracewell grew up under a cloud of shame, her mother was notorious. Little did she know that her real father had plans. But her uncle knows and he has other plans and if his plans work he will gain power. Frederica wanted to be a painter and has done some paintings that have earned her a little, maybe enough to escape to the continent and learn more. Lord Robert Mountford has been banished by his family and he's working as a gamekeeper, enjoying a simple life until she steps into his life and his heart.

It was a fun read and with a lot of twists and turns that appealed. He supports her quite well and they make a good couple.… (lisätietoja)
