A quick, fun read from Sarita Leone. Set in 1814 London, Elise Fulbright receives a mysterious letter and sets off to discover its meaning. When she arrives at her destination Elise finds herself left with more questions, both about the letter and the confusing Hugh North. Frustrated with the lack of results from her trip, Elise returns home to the arms of her mother and sister. Hugh North is quite intrigued by Elise and is surprised that she is so quick to return home, especially considering her circumstances. When Elise is given the answers to her questions, Hugh is sure that she will return and demand what is owed to her. When she doesn’t, Hugh is confused, yet impressed by the strength of Elise’s character. Could she be the woman he has been looking for?

While the story is rather short, the characters and plot are well-developed and entertaining. I enjoyed Elise’s character and the mystery behind the letter. There were times at the beginning that I wished the storyline would speed up and tell me the secret, but all of the time spend at the beginning was necessary for plot and character development. I would have liked to have read a little more about Elise and Hugh’s relationship towards the end of the story, but overall it was a good read. This book was received from the author for the purpose of an honest review.

A beautifully written, well told story set in 1815 London. The story takes place during the time period from New Year’s Day to Valentine’s Day. Sophie Teasdale and Colin Randolph secretly have feelings for each other but have never managed to confess them. Colin decides it’s time for things to come out in the open, only he can’t seem to find a way to tell Sophie of his feelings. When a New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball allows him to dance the night away in the arms of Sophie without her knowing, things are finally set in motion. But when Colin reveals his heart to Sophie, will she be able to admit her feelings or will she turn Colin away forever?

A quick and sweet read from Sarita Leone. A story that will leave you with a smile on your face and love in your heart. The characters are well developed and sweet, and the storyline is very endearing, however slightly predictable. Reading a historical about a family who was average, not rich, who knew what hard work and life was all about, was quite refreshing. The touch of sister camaraderie was lovely and added another depth to the story. I will look forward to reading other novels by Sarita Leone.
