The complete title of this book serves as an adequate explanation of the topic covered, as the author examines the pressures (slaving, expropriation of land and general disrespect) that drove the Iroquois-speaking Tuscarora Nation to war with the European colonists, leading to the breaking of both the First Nations in the east of North Carolina and the breaking of the hold of the absentee proprietors of the colony.
