This book highlights certain pieces of art from all over Asia. South, east, and southeast Asian art is primarily featured, with pieces from many different time periods. The introduction tells the reader that this book is not to represent or sum up all Asian art, but instead act as an introduction to get the reader interested in and excited to learn more about Asian art. Pieces from Korean, Chinese, Indian, and Pakistani artists are featured, as well as religious art pieces from the Hindu and Buddhist religions. The book is interactive, featuring questions for each artwork as well as questions at the end of the book. Biographies for the artists and in-depth explanations for each piece are included. I really enjoyed this book, as there is such a variety of artwork featured in it. Everything from the ethnicity and religions of the artists to the medium used on the artworks themselves varies, and I loved learning about all the different pieces. I also enjoyed that artworks from many different time periods were included, which sort of showed an evolution of different art styles and how current artists can do new takes on old styles of art. I would use this book to teach a lesson on different Asian cultures, since many religions, clothing, activities, folktales, and mythologies are featured in the book.… (lisätietoja)

I liked "Come Look with Me: Latin American Art" for several reasons. First, the language was very descriptive and clear; the descriptions and artist biographies tell the reader why the artist created the respective work. The descriptions of the art guides the reader as they view an example of the artwork. The writing is organized with the intent of guiding the reader through each example. On the top of each page, there are thinking questions that further guide the reader's thinking. The illustrations are vital to the artwork, as they are described by the text, and are the focus of the book. As this is also an informational book, the main idea is to teach the readers about Latin American art, the individual artists, and why each piece shown in the book was created.… (lisätietoja)
