- Age: End of intermediate to middle school

- About a girl and her family who moved from Vietnam during the Vietnam war. Her story about how she ended up in Alabama and what it was like to start school in the U.S and learn english.

- I would use it in my classroom as it is about a different culture and experiences to help us gain perspective. It is written in free verse poetry which made it an easy read.

Book for early middle school 5-6th. Great book to start introducing chapter books. Slightly worried, may be triggering for some kids, with having to leave home and not knowing where their dad is. Good book to read together as a class.

I think this book is for the intermediate to middle school level students. The book is about a little girl names Ha fleeing Vietnam with her family during the war and learning how to adjust to her new life in America. It is a struggle for them because people judge her and her family and she is also trying to learn English.
