Reviewed in 2012 by Richard Hilkin: "This is a very interesting and well-researched history of Religious Orders and of those who, in their different ways (and often in separated communities), tried to live in accordance with their religious belifs in a culture which does not make it easy, The groups are largely Christian, though not exclusively so. It sheds little light on the Quaker understanding of the issues raised- although it's notable how it avoids pointing out those issues that mainstream Christians might regard as 'errors'

This was an interesting premise - based around the secret lives we hide from others. I enjoyed following along with the characters as they navigated their public (and private) lives. Each narrative is based around voice...or lack of it. This isn't a light-hearted story by any means, and tackles some important issues. Three people, three different lives, all tied together by their relationships with each other.
