I'm currently on the hunt for some more good omegaverse romances (thanks Lola & The Millionaires, you got me hooked). I've discovered that these stories are almost always super rapey, and I don't like it. Just give me a girl in a loving, equal, and CONSENSUAL relationship with her guy/guys, throw in a little out-of-control heat sex, and I'm a happy camper.

This book kinda walks that line. At the beginning of the book, and really threading through the rest of it, there's some blatant non-con stuff, like omega females not being able to walk around without getting immediately raped in the street, the omegas living to please their alphas and being physically unable to refuse them, etc., etc.. Also, there's a lot of undertone of certain types of people being... lesser. The omegas live only to breed new alphas, betas are useless, and regular humans might as well be animals. Even Sasha, who says at one point that she treats the regular humans with respect like they deserve, still talks to them in a very derogatory and servant-like way.

That being said, I think the main romance between the MC and the love interest is the one part of this book that doesn't feel horrible. Kane does hold back until Sasha has fully claimed him and made her consent completely clear. He's also very protective and makes sure that she's only treated by doctors that aren't super creepy. Still, I kind of feel like I'm congratulating him on being the bare minimum of a decent human being.

All together, I think my final opinion of this one is that the main romance is fun, but the rest of the book just leaves me feeling super... icky.… (lisätietoja)
