A very interesting book. The chapters are well supported with footnotes and with references. A map of Aotearoa New Zealand would have been helpful to show where the gardens/sites are. Maybe its absence was to protect the gardeners...

Some photos of the actual garden areas or sites in addition to the photos of the whare uku and plants would have made this book more interesting. There were many references to Papawhakaritorito but only by looking at the author profiles did I find its location.

The big challenge for me as a Pakeha reader is making the links to understand the assertion that soil is whakapapa. On the other hand the role of karakia in connection with soil and gardening resonated easily.… (lisätietoja)
