My dad got interested in making his own knives after he retired and was for ever cutting up saw blades and riveting wooden handles to his new blades. I think ode would have benefited from this book. Actually, Come to think of it, My son and i attended a workshop where we both made two knives over a period of about three days. Mine never seemed to be very sharp...nothing like the Japanese knives that I've brought back from the local bladesmith in Mishima. Anyway, there is a lot of technology here about making the ultimate blade ...but all with a rather american emphasis. It's interesting to method there has been a kind of revival of interest in the medieval period so people are making swords, and daggers and viking style axes..as well as damascus patterned steel knives. It's a fairly thorough book...with details about making handles and scabbards etc. Unfortunately, I'm downsizing my library so this book has to go. Pity. I give it two stars.… (lisätietoja)

One of the best books out there on the subject of pattern welding. Having written a short tutorial on the subject I can tell you, Mr. Hrisoulas has done a Masterful job. From metals used, technique, shop hints, and tips this is the definitive treatise for beginners and intermediate knife makers.
