Ok, read that subtitle again. Now try and resist wanting to read this. I love the very idea of Brits trying to compete with French cafes, bistros, and restaurants. co au vin? Pun-lees! There's shepherds pie to enjoy? And say what you will about British food, these people know from desserts, err, puddings.

The book itself is a fun, light read, on the order of A year in Provence, with a slosh of Bill Bryson in places. If you enjoyed those writers, or even the book A Year in the Merde, you will probably like this one.

Again, read that subtitle. Go buy it now, you will be glad you did.

Not as entertaining as Peter Mayle, but still a fun read, especially for those interested in how restaurants are operated.
