I couldn't have chosen a nicer book to start 2016 with! Grae's story is heartwarming and uplifting in a way that never feels saccharine or forced, just genuine and earned. After years of struggle, Grae hits rock bottom when she ends up arrested for assault after defending herself and her little brother figure from homophobic attackers. Her life starts to turn around at this point, when her estranged mother and brother insist on coming to her aid. A new home, therapy, volunteer work, an apprenticeship and a lot of new friends help Grae to realise that there's more hope for her than she'd ever realised. I was a big fan of the romance, and was cheering for the two of them to get together, but I also really appreciated that it wasn't a bigger deal than it was. Grae's problems didn't disappear when she met a special woman; finding someone she could fall in love with and choosing to open her heart was just one part of her growth and healing. A special & touching read with some great, great passages that I couldn't help but highlight with my Kindle**, Broken Faith is absolutely phenomenal! Lois Cloarec Hart is a talented, sensitive writer who gives the reader the gift of a thoughtful, emotional and sometimes romantic novel.

There's so much to love, but I especially admire how Marika and Rhiannon come together as friends way before they realize they have stronger feelings for each other. _And_ they are invested in commitment before they consider physical intimacy.

Broken Faith is perfectly titled because Marika has spent so much of her adult life believing she could never find someone to love who could love her back. The only problem is those of us with goofy, romantic hearts may sigh just a little too much at the end! :)

A breath of fresh air (swooping in over what has felt like a rather lackluster romantic reading life lately), Coming Home isn't just for fans of lesfic. A great cast of likable characters with two wonderful leads make this just delightful to read, even if it is sad at times.

As with some of the best yet most emotionally frustrating romances, the two people in love have no clue how each other feels, which sets up something that the author skillfully keeps from being too angsty.

Another plus? Emphasis is on friendship and emotional connections first and foremost and romance and physical relations come much much later, when common sense and decency make what happens all the more rich.

I like Coming Home so much I've already purchased Broken Faith, which is a sequel of sorts. Characters from Coming Home appear in Broken. One particular woman, who is headstrong and in unrequited love with one of the leads, finally gets her chance at love...can't wait to read more! :)… (lisätietoja)
