I liked this book a lot as I have read other work by the author and enjoy his style of writing. Writes with adventure and horror and fantasy and sweetness. A hobo rides trains into alternate dimension where memories live and changes lives. No spoiler, but there are lots of good charaxcters of ghosts and reminds me of Ray Bradbury story.

First off, we have 31 contributors to Horror Library #8 and some wonderful illustrations sure to catch your eye. Look closely. You never know what might jump out at you. Each short story has an amazing illustration to introduce you to the wonder of an author’s imagination. At the end of the book is a guest artist’s gallery by Jana Heidersdorf!

Whether you like stories based on claustrophobia, repercussions, broken rules, a child that….covens, masks, art, time travel, perversion, temptation or witchcraft, you are sure to find something that whets your appetite.

Probably the one that stood out the most for me was Only The Stones Will Hear You Scream. I am claustrophobic and felt shivers running up and down my spine as he squeezed and twisted into a space I feel no one was not meant to enter.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Horror Library #8 by Eric J Guignard.

This was such an odd-cross section of historical fiction and horror and the paranormal, but it works so well. The grim realities of life as a hobo, and riding the rails around America, combined with ghosts who don't always have the best of intentions. Guignard did an excellent job of bringing both setting and characters to life while weaving an unforgettable story that will have chills running down your spine in the hottest weather. The writing style was unique, and although the plot doesn't move along at a smooth pace, it seems to feel right for this story. Overall, an intriguing read that has me wanting to read more from this author.… (lisätietoja)

I love short horror stories, and what a perfect title for this collection of 16 dark tales. That Which Grows Wild encompasses myth, urban legend, and fairy tales for grown ups that could make the Brothers Grimm shiver.

The author conjures up worlds where spontaneous combustion is the norm, a never ending full moon allows werewolves to prowl as they please, and the voices of long lost loved ones call to you from sink holes. There is a re-imagining of beauty and the beast, where Belle is ugly on the inside, and "Dreams of A Little Suicide" which may be familiar to you if you know of the urban legend surrounding a hanging munchkin that people claimed could be seen in The Wizard Of Oz. My absolute favorite was "A Serving Of Nomu Sashimi" in which a low performing sales rep gets let in on the secret of the big earners. This book was like a trip down memory lane that suddenly leaves you abandoned in unknown territory just when you thought you knew where you were. From a horror lover, that is high praise.

I received a complimentary copy for review.
