Sometimes it takes a crisis for people to see what's really important. What Mac, a WW2 pilot, and Harry, his navigator, have to face is no mere crisis: after their plane crashes in the Pacific, they face death. The sharks are literally circling them, and I held my breath as they struggled to reach the raft in time.

Since they were already the rescue team sent to find a lost plane, it doesn't look too good for them to be found before it's too late. They haven't got much in terms of survival gear, and the probability anyone will find them is rather low. As they start to realize they may die, they begin to open up to each other and are both surprised, maybe even relieved, about what they discover.

If you're looking for a story about a tense situation that brings human emotions into the light that might have otherwise remained hidden, if you enjoy reading about men fighting to survive, and if you're looking for a short read with a message of hope, then you will probably like this short story.
