Lyhyt elämäkerta
Emilia Fogelklou was born in Simrishhamn, near Österlen, Sweden. She attended Uppsala University and became the first woman in Sweden to earn a degree in theology in 1909. She held various teaching positions, including at a teachers' college in Kalmar, until 1923, when she left teaching to devote herself to writing and lecturing. She joined the growing peace movement, traveling in 1915 to The Hague for the First Congress of the International League of Women for Peace and Freedom. In 1922, she married Arnold Norlind, a geographer, and later wrote a book about him, Arnold (1944), considered one of her best works. In 1932, she become one of the first Swedish members of the Society of Friends (Quakers). With her friends and women's rights colleagues, including Elisabeth Tamm, Honorine Hermelin, Kerstin Hesselgren and Elin Wägner, she helped start up the women's magazine Tidevarvet (Era). She wrote many important religious works and biographies of prominent early Quakers. Later in life, she published an autobiography, and her extensive correspondence with Elin Wagner, entitled Dear Ili, Dearest Elin, was published in 1989.

Emilia Fogelklou is probably one of the most overlooked thinkers of 20th century Sweden, perhaps because she fits into no obvious category. These autobiographical extracts and fine introduction by Howard Lutz paint a portrait that brings to the fore the social, cultural, and theological ideas that concerned her throughout her life as a scholar and a teacher.

Not Fox's views on the "doctrine of the atonement," but rather an examination of his experience of finding atonement in his relationship with James Naylor.

This is a fascinating and important pamphlet about early Quaker conflict over leadership, and its resolution in the creation of the system of business meetings, which established leadership in the united meeting, as led by the Spirit. The author reviews the specific history and concludes that George Fox alone is the founder, not of Quakerism as a spiritual movement, but of the group structure through which that movement was able to survive.
