- As a Texan and recovering sorority girl, Lindsay Emory has strong opinions on college football, nachos, and wearing white after Labor Day. Lindsay started writing when her first grade teacher put her in a closet and told her to write stories, instead of teaching her math. When she's not writing, she's raising two daughters, watching movies with her husband, and reading as many books as possible. She is an active member of the Dallas Area Romance Authors chapter of RWA and a semi-active member of the PTA, which is a whole lot less fun.Lindsay Emory began her career as a lawyer but now writes romantic suspense, mysteries, and romantic comedy. She hosts a popular podcast Women with Books about genre fiction written by and for women. Lindsay lives in North Texas with two big dogs and her romance hero, drinking gimlets and raising two STEM warrior princesses.

This book was trying to do too much and be too many things and it didn't quite pull it off. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't particularly good, and I skimmed the second half because I got bored. It has a fictional country but doesn't have enough background behind this fictional country--there are few details about location, history, relation to other countries, etc. It has a princess who can be quite haughty but also runs out and escapes--I wanted so much more about her feelings about the monarchy and her relationship to her role. It has a very complicated spy plot, but this felt like it was thrown in to make the book not just a princess book. It had a lot of bugs and unusual situations and we were constantly thrown from one place to another, and it was all a bit too convoluted.… (lisätietoja)
Know When to Hold Him By Lindsay Emory is a well thought out work of art. I was gifted an ARC for my honest viewpoint. If a fan of the show Scandal you will love this book. Spencer Hightower is wrapped up within her career. Afraid of being hurt again-she does not want anyone to get too close. Liam wants to get to know her despite all of the baggage. Will these people getting to know each other become affected by their careers. Can rivals become lovers? Although this was a good story it was little too much going on for me.… (lisätietoja)
Princess Theodora is left at the altar, then sent away to a private island for four months to recover. Only after she returns does she learn that no one has heard from her fiancée since before he disappeared.
One night after her return, Thea sneaks out to a bar and meets Nick. He doesn’t reveal his real identity at first. But Thea soon learns that he isn’t just flirting. He’s trying to get her help to find Christian.
He thinks that her fiancée was actually kidnapped the night before her wedding.
While Thea had committed her future to her fiancée, it was more because he was the right type of person for a royal to marry. It wasn’t out of love.
So, even though she’s just a few months post-jilted at the altar, she isn’t heartbroken per se. She’s more confused and mad.
She decides to partner up with Nick to get to the bottom of Christian’s disappearance.
This story feels more like an action movie than a princess book. There’s a bit of a love story worked in too.
The story was unique but not what I originally pictured.
I enjoyed it but you have to suspend a lot of disbelief to think a princess could get away from her family so easily.

This book is in the vein of The Princess Bride. A good thing as there is nothing worse then to be attracted to a book because of a comparison to another book that you really liked. Plus, there is humor to be found within the pages of this book.
Princess Theodora is so warm and engaging. She definitely challenges Nick. Although, Nick does deserve it. He kept poking Theodora. Nick's original intentions may not have been the best but by the end he turned things around. I did have a bit of trouble believing that Theodora was as clueless about Nick as she acted. He was not the greatest with his cover story. Overall, through this is a fun, charming read. No royals were harmed in the making of this book.… (lisätietoja)
