The wreck of the Red Bird;: A story of the Carolina… Tekijä: George Cary Eggleston
Historical fiction a la Robinson Crusoe was an enjoyable read aloud for my son and I. Some terminology is no longer socially correct, but it allows for discussion. The story was enjoyable, though it had an abrupt ending.
Highly romanticized early account of William Weatherford or Red Eagle, of Alabama
This was a surprising book. A love story, yes, but also a platform for the author's surprisingly progressive and liberal political views. Some nice phrasings, good character building and laudatory sentiments.
It kept my interest and sent me to researching the author and his times.
