Diana Vikander Edelman

A well-written and researched selection of essays on the history and archaeology of Edom, Israel's neighbor. Of course, much has been written about Edom since then, and the excavations lead by Tom Levy at Khirbat en-Nahas have rendered some of the material obsolete. And, as in any scholarly source, much that is presented here is open for debate. However, if I were to recommend one book on Edom to someone interested in the Bible, history, or archaeology, I would probably recommend this book.

If you can wade through the academic jargon this is an interesting and educational book. It is a collection of academic papers by various authors concerned with the pre-historic (so to speak) evidence, conceptions and development of the Jewish god.
