I KNOW that what i am about to say may sound a bit off the wall, but saying it anyway. Do you recall the book Celestine Prophecy from several years back? As i read Destruction of Silence that title kept popping into my head. The difference being that DeBlanck has written a book which is much more relatable and real.
A young man raised by an abusive father who has disappeared, has taken it upon himself to find him, to find answers to his questions, to fine out .... why. We follow his journey thru Apache country guided by a new-found friend Great Spirit. The more places he stops, the more people he meets, the more understanding and insightful he becomes. So that by the end of his trip he is a different man.
You will close the book and just sit there for a silent moment to re-absorb all that you just read. And wonder. Do we all have a Great Spirit?

DeBlanck has done it once again with The Ramos Brothers! This is the 2nd of his books that i've read and I was once again thoroughly engrossed by the images he creates with words. You can read this and feel like you've visited Miami and Cuba, you can step back in time with Juan andAlberto, his descriptive writing PUTS you right there!

The characters are well-formed and personalities jump off the pages. It takes place in a crucial time in American history, and speaks of the bonds that ties the immigrant brothers, and family love, a period of years.

Once again i ended this book with a ''ohhhhhhhhh...." simply because i wanted more.

I started off by reading this aloud to my husband...couldn't do it. It was so absorbing that i had to continue on my own to get those pages turned faster! You can read all the history books you like, keep up with current events via the tv and newspapers, but more often than not there are degrees of separation from it all. The Sky Buries All Sorrow brings it to life.
In the fully developed characers I saw my folks and their struggles both individually and mutally. I saw my older brother, I see myself. WW2 thru to 9/11... the emotions, struggles and day to day life that went with the passing time.
Delve into this book for a step back in time. Pour yourself into these pages for one awesome ride of written words
