B. S. Dean (1845–1919)

"Prof. Bailey Sutton Dean whose death in Hiram, September 24th was noted in The Dispatch, was born in Ellsworth, Jan. 5, 1845. After graduating from Bethany college in 1869 he taught school and preached in several towns, permanently locating in Hiram in 1882. For many years he was an instructor in Hiram College, being a finished scholar. He served as president and teacher of Hiram college, and until health failed him some months since, was always foremost in promoting the interests of the community. He is survived by his widow and two children."
