Thank you Kim for making me a winner of your book from the Early Reviewer on Library Thing. I am giving my review here as Libray Thing's site I get lost in.

I am always happy to win a book but yours was a true delight in that animals actually talk to each other and it was real like it will be. I just couldn't put this book down until the last page; I read it all in one sitting. This book shows what living in the last days will resemble and we are surely fast approaching those days with the signs of the times what they are.

God's blessings to you, Maggie

An unknown catastrophe has changed life in the United States as we know it, and those who are left have to figure out how to stay alive. An apocalyptic tale taken from a version of Christianity's end times follows the path of several people and a few animals in the new world. This is a lighter version for those familiar with post-apocalyptic world books. It is a story with loss and hardship, but it has characters that draw you in so you keep reading to see what happens to them.

I received this book from librarything.com early member giveaway a while back for an honest Review. It was a decent book. I thought that I would have liked it a lot but I didn't. I couldn't identify with the characters at all.

It’s a dystopian future in the US with Peacemakers running around. A nice name for people trying to kill you. A battle between government and religion hunting down those who do not have the mark. Animals also talk to each other. Some parts I liked more than others.

I couldn’t stop reading it. Although the characters face many trials and endure many hardships, we see God’s mercy and intervention in their lives. It certainly leaves you with hope and faith in God. The talking animals were a lovely touch, and I really enjoyed them. The characters were well developed and believable. You could really see how their faith reflected in their lives. This book uses the Bible to show us what our near future could look like if we aren’t careful. I’m looking forward to Book 2.

This is a Christian fiction novel. The plot takes a back seat to the gospel message Cousins is trying to send here. I don't think that is a bad thing. I'm glad she didn't compromise her message to make the story more main stream. But it will make the audience for this book much smaller. It is a good story about what God will do for His people if they believe and follow Him. When the 'World Government' takes over and the people are required to get a mark, Christians (and a few others) refuse. Which not only makes them outlaws but, cuts them off from society. So they start their own. These people of faith see miracles and witness wonderous things and God is ever present with them. But I was glad to see that Cousins didn't make it a fairytale; bad things still happen. I like the bible verses in the footnotes so you can look up the relevant scripture for yourself. But I'm not a fan of the animals talking. Even though they can't talk to humans, it always struck me as slightly goofy and distracted from the message. And most of the characters are black and white. You are either a good guy or you are horribly evil. There is no middle ground. And there were a couple of thing in the plot that didn't add up for me. The Peacekeepers (the police) arrest people without the mark and send them off to camps. The Peacekeepers know where this whole community of unmarked Christians are and, although they harass them some, they let them stay together and free. It is a good, strong Christian message, which is nice, but as a story I couldn't connect enough with it. It is the first in a series but I will not be reading the others.½

Of the Earth takes place during times of unrest. Christians are hunted for not taking an oath to the New World Orders leader. In this book we meet people of all walks of life struggling to stay alive as they build communities. All the characters are well written and in a short span of time you find yourself caring about them like they were your own family. The animals can communicate with each other and yes you fall in love with them also. I never like a preachy book but this one blends fantasy, with bible verses, plague, famine, along with 2 or more miracles. I couldn't put the book down and the ending had me in tears but not sure if it was sadness or gladness. It says on the cover book 1 so I am hoping 2 comes out soon.

I received this from LibraryThing Early Reviewers for an honest review.

Of the Earth, by Kim Cousins, is book one in the Clashing Kingdoms series. This is a fun dystopian story to read. It is a perfect blend of action, suspense and romance and takes place in the United States as it is under World Government and requires all to have the mark of the best or be killed by the Peacemakers. This story shows the faith, determination, and strength Christians have to survive. It is enjoyable to read how the Christians are there to help each other. I appreciate the Biblical teaching within the story and the humor with the animals talking. This story will make the reader stop and take a look at their faith.

I received a complimentary copy of this story from the publisher through LibraryThing. This is my honest review.

Of The Earth by Kim Cousins is a fascinating book set in a dystopian future on the lands of what once was the United States. This dystopia is based in scarily familiar situations to this reader with a few extra problems thrown in. The way for the humans to survive is through Christianity and the Bible. This isn’t done in a heavy handed way at all. Even the doubters in the book are given love and understanding. Bad things happen to good people. As a bonus, this is a great book to help you read the Bible and appreciate its verses. This is especially so since Kim Cousins leaves footnotes of bible verses throughout the book. However, you can read the book as fiction and not be distracted by the footnotes at all. I enjoyed reading the book but then I’m a Christian. Other religions aren’t vilified but they don’t appear either. I think the book works though whether or not you’re a believer in the creativity and action that occurs in the book

I really liked this book because of how unique it is. I thought that the concept was very interesting with the World Government and enjoyed reading the writing style as well as seeing the character development. Definitely recommend!

"Of the Earth" by Kim Cousins was an enjoyable read! It's one of those books that I had a hard time putting down. I read the entire novel in 2 days.
Without giving too much away, the story is based on the lives of several individuals (and some animals), in the not
too distant future. The United States is under the rule of the "World Government", due to numerous crises that have taken place. All of civilization are required to accept the new regime by carrying the mark of the beast, or be killed by the "Peacemakers". Ms. Cousins does an amazing job of developing the characters, plot and setting. I also liked that bible verses were referenced throughout the story.
If you're looking for a unique novel or a change from the genres that you normally read, this might be the book for you!
