Alexis Marie Chute

Wow! The writing of this book had me floored. Seriously, this book is worth the read just for the writing alone. Ok, enough with the fangirling, I'll get to the real stuff now.

Alexis was able to make such an interesting cast of characters. Despite the fact that Above the Star is a YA novel, it was multigenerational and had attentive adults *applauds*. All the characters had their own personalities and hopes and dreams and wishes... Perfection. One thing that I wish was different was the character names. There were quite a few that started with "A" and I had to focus a lot more to make sure I was thinking (and reading) the correct character.

This book ends on an open note for Below the Moon to take over while still wrapping up the events of the book.

The one thing that disappointed me was Tessa's attitude toward her husband who left her. Yes, she had every right to be upset but she was wanting her daughter, Ella, to agree with statements that she made about him. It seemed very immature.

I enjoyed this story and am looking forward to reviewing Below the Moon soon.

What a great conclusion to this trilogy! It's hard to believe that it is the end after so many pages of characters that I've come to know well.
I loved the uniqueness of this story and how the cover was literally perfect for the book. I found the worlds and people to be so different yet they all had the same wants and desires. Now we need some books set in the other worlds...
The one thing that I did not like was the length of the book compared to the events. Some events seemed to have too much page time and it was slower going during those parts.
All and all, I will be missing the characters and I'd recommend this series to anyone who doesn't mind some violence and loves a good adventure between worlds.

As far as a second book can go, this one was one of the best I’ve read. There was NO Second Book Syndrome and we got to learn a lot more about the characters, their motivations, their fears. I also liked how the plot was always moving forward and never dragged.

The illustrations are pretty cute, by no means do they look perfect, which is why they are so great. They are Ella’s thoughts as she experiences the journey and I definitely wish more fantasy books had a similar concept.

The character growth of this book was great! I felt that I was able to learn more about them all and I liked how they learned to interact together even when they did not agree on the best route to go.

All and all, this was a great second book to the series and I'm eager to see what the finale of the third brings.

I have enjoyed this trilogy. While, I did feel like the first two books just moved at a tad bit slower pacing; despite the fact that there was tons of adventure. This final book is the strongest. It moved faster. Probably because I had been on this journey with Ella and her family from the beginning.

By this point, I have become invested in this trilogy and journey that Ella and her family has found themselves in. It has been quite an adventure for sure. Plenty of action, some romance, danger, and a few surprises along the way. I was pleased with the ending. This is important because there is nothing worse then to invest time reading a book or trilogy in this case, only to have a weak ending. There was no weak ending with this one.… (lisätietoja)
